The cut throat
flume was developed in the 1970s in the US. The US
Standard includes sizes from 1 inch to 8 inches. In
recent years the flume's ability to cope with solids has
lead to its use at inlet to Waste Water Treatment Works.
The smallest variant, the 25 mm cut throat flume, is for low flow measurement of clean
or reclaimed water in which there is no debris. The flume
is fitted directly into the channel and a settlement tank is not required.
The flow characteristic Q(h) and un-certainty u*95(Cd)
are by FMcert calibration.
